JDMJ is the first canvas I painted featuring my own lettering and only the second studio piece I've created, marking a return to the studio after a decade. It’s a tribute to a street piece I painted in Athens 🇬🇷 2017 (Live on Instagram) , which lives on to this day — loved and protected by the city's graffiti removal workers.

Almost a decade ago, I tried painting on canvas for the first time, but I couldn’t see how or why my "art"—particularly my lettering—would fit or belong on canvas. The medium and its limitations—especially the size—didn’t align with my vision. After some experimentation and a change in perspective, I decided to start a series of studio pieces to reflect and, perhaps permanently, preserve the thoughts and works I've shared outdoors, most of which have since faded away, one way or another.

The punchline came naturally during the live actions for the project. I was regularly interacting with bystanders on the street, whether friendly or annoyed, all curious about what I was doing and why. My response was always simple: “I’m just doing my job.” I’m a painter—I paint. Please don’t interrupt; I do my job, and you do yours. And so, I continued “my work” confidently on both the public and private property.

The first artwork is a tribute to a piece I painted in 2017 in the center of Athens. This piece was part of a project called LIVE BORIS, where I painted on the streets and live-streamed the process on Instagram. While most of the other pieces no longer exist in real life, JUST DOING MY JOB is still on the street. The local graffiti removal company has chosen to show mercy and let it live. They’ve even gone a step further, occasionally passing by to refresh its background.
